Bellair School House

A small, single-room schoolhouse out in the middle of nowhere and directly next to
Bellair Cemetery. There is some history of an altercation on the front steps of the schoolhouse which led a death.
This cemetery survey starts with Row 1 on the far east side of the cemetery, and Grave 1 starts from the south end and goes to the north end of the cemetery. All other rows do the same.

Address: 1980 N. 25th St. (closest town, west of Annapolis, Illinois)

Numerous EVPs have been collected in the building from time to time.

The Ghost Research Society investigated Bellair School House July1, 2017 and the team members included: Stan Suho and Dale Kaczmarek, with help from Jason Snider, Jason Dickerson, Marcus Cook and Courtney Bowen from Crawford County Ghost Hunters

Equipment setup: A shadow detector was placed in the back of the schoolhouse which pointed at Suho’s IR camcorder which was near the front of the building. A Tri-Field Natural EM Meter and a Melmeter were also deployed. Other hand-held devices like digital recorders, Ovilus X, Radio Specter, and SB-11 were also used.

Experiments performed: Ovilus X, Radio Specter and SB-11 sessions were held in the building. The shadow detector did not register anything unusual.

Personal experiences:

Stan Suho: Because of the rapid pace there wasn’t much time to do much setup. However I did manage to do a mini setup in a haunted one room school house. The rest of the time it was VHS Video and Sony Night Shot Photos.

Dale Kaczmarek: This location was a stone’s throw from Bellair Cemetery that was very active. With the 4th of July just around the corner, there was a lot of noise contamination from locals shooting off fireworks in the background and sometimes screaming in delight at the spectacle. During an Ovilus X session in phonetic mode, I thought I heard a voice come through that sounded like it said “Scared”. Maybe this was a spirit reaching out and commenting about the noise in the background?

Nothing really unusual or strange happened while we were in the building however I did record several whispers in the background which I’m fairly confident wasn’t caused by anyone in our group.

Evidence collected:

And they know bellair.MPG – while conducting an EVP session, a faint whisper was recorded that sounds like, “And they know.”

Dale Dale bellair.MPG – while conducting an EVP session, another faint whisper was recorded that sounds like it calls Kaczmarek’s name twice, “Dale Dale.”

Hi bellair.MPG – while conducting an SB-11 Ghost Box session, a comment was made that the antenna has been disconnected and that only static would come through the box and no radio frequencies should be heard. Immediately after that statement, a faint female voice comes through and says, “Hi.”

Negative bellair.MPG – while conducting a Radio Specter session, a question was asked, “Was there a fight outside?” The device responds with a male voice saying, “Negative.”

Spooky you bellair.MPG – while conducting an Ovilus X session in phonetic mode, the device suddenly says, “Spooky.” A question was then asked, “What’ spooky?” The Ovilus responds with, “You.”

Strange cry bellair.MPG – while conducting and EVP session, a question was asked, “Are there any children here? Can you tell us your names?” A strange and distant cry was heard by all and recorded. I cannot be 100% sure that this wasn’t outside contamination and it probably was, but it did sound very unusual.

Words spoken by the Ovilus X in dictionary mode: clairvoyant, suit, flow and Venus.

Conclusions: This was a very interesting building and it would have been more interesting without all the background noise of fireworks going off; however we were still able to gather some fascinating evidence in between the booms and the bangs. This could be a perfect place for a possible follow-up investigation when we could devote more time to both the schoolhouse and nearby cemetery.
