Back in the 1950's a couple were
driving over a bridge heading out on their honeymoon, When a dog ran out in
front of them, the couple swerved and ended up driving off the side of the
bridge killing the dog. There are two stories, one both died, and the male died
but either way the woman's head and the dogs head was chopped off and they were
unable to find the woman's body and the dogs head,
Address: On
1100 W just North of 500 S in San Pierre, Indiana
Directions: Take Highway 421 to 500 S and
turn West on 500 S. Go a little ways and you will come to a stop sign; that road
is 1100 W. Turn north on 1100 W and
follow it about 1/2 mile and you will come to the bridge and a dead end. The
first bridge is approximately one mile off the main road. You may park on the
original gravel road and stop near the first barrier. Visitors must walk from
there to the bridge.
Hauntings:
Now it is said as you walk down the path there are two bridges the first
bridge is weak and very old the second is the one they crashed off. It isn't
even there yet you can see the cement sidings from where it once stood.
Supposedly when you go down the path you will see the body of the woman wearing
the dog’s head, if you do not beat her off of the first bridge and back to
your car she will kill you, by supposedly eating you alive. There have been
rumors of bodies found and people being shot at. As you walk you can hear
strange animal snorting howls and growls, while the entire area is made of swamp
and it is a known fact that, wolves and coyotes do not go near swampy areas.
The Ghost Research Society investigated Dog Face Bridge on May 27, 2022 team members included: Paul Adams, Charles Williams, Marge Such, Mike Rosario and Dale Kaczmarek.
Equipment
setup: Mostly
hand-held equipment was used such as digital recorders and cameras, camcorders,
ParaTek app and EMF devices such as K-IIs and Melmeters.
Experiments
performed: A
single ParaTek session was conducted near the entrance to the first bridge.
Personal
experiences:
Mike Rosario: Intro and Equipment Used: For this
investigation, we traveled to Dog Face Bridge, located in San Pierre, Indiana.
This took off on Friday, May 27, 2022, at approximately 12:25pm with Dale
Kaczmarek, and a few other members of the GRS team.
Afternoon weather was a bit warm, with skies cloudy, windy, with a slight
drizzle. Equipment used in this
investigation were my K-II Meter; a Philips VoiceTracer Digital Voice Recorder,
iPhone 8+; and a DVC 4K Ultra HD 48mp Night Shot Digital Video Camcorder.
Initial
Investigation:
For this investigation, I was accompanied by Dale, Chuck, Paul,
and Marge. I began by doing my usual
K-II sweeps around the bridge. I
remember it being around 1.2mG at its highest reading in and around the bridge
area. I walked the full length or
this very old, dilapidated, rickety bridge, filled with holes, rotten asphalt,
and missing wooden beams, and some bottom support trusses where you could
literally see all the way down into the Kankakee River from good 25 or so feet!
We had done a couple of short EVP sessions with the Phasma Box before the
weather started to deteriorate a bit more.
Evidence: Upon
reviewing all of my evidence, I did not capture any video evidence, but
did get one piece of audio evidence from the Phasma Box Session.
Evidence taken is below:
~ “Your soul.”
(Location: Right near the bridge).
Marge
Sucha: Equipment I used: Digital recorder
The weather was cloudy, rainy
and cool. Once the car was parked we
had about a 3/4 mile walk to the bridge.
The story behind this is a
honeymooning couple was driving along this road and when a dog jumped out on the
road causing the car to swerve off the bridge.
Both the couple and dog were killed.
People have reported seeing bodies, a woman with a dog's head attached,
and scratching, growling noises.
The bridge was pretty cool
looking. The part you would have
driven on was taken over nature. Trees, grass, bushes, & vines, you could
not see a road. The top part was steel and partially exposed.
It appeared to be in the middle of nowhere.
Due to the weather we did a
quick EVP session. We did get some
replies but nothing that really made sense.
Charles Williams: Personal Experiences- None
Once again I was
leery because of the mile walk, and tall foliage.
The entire group was infested
with tics, except me
surprisingly! Nothing sticks out
here, probably urban legend, will review
evidence.
Dale Kaczmarek:
This was an
interesting trip that I, at first thought, we wouldn’t make due to some online
posts of unruly people and visitors to this remote site. However we encountered
no one probably due to the increment weather; cool and rainy.
Some from the group crossed the first bridge but I did
not due to holes where one could fall all the way to the river. The second
bridge is where allegedly a lot of paranormal activity has taken place in the
past. That bridge is no longer there, just some concrete from the original
construction.
Evidence
collected:
Afraid dogface.MP4 – while conducting a ParaTek
session, a question was asked, “Is it true that a couple crashed here?” The
device responded with, “Afraid.”
Bill dogface.MP4 – while conducting a ParaTek
sessions, a question was asked, “Can you tell me who died here?” The device
responded with, “Bill.”
Your soul dogface.MP4 – while conducting an EVP
session, the ParaTek blurted out, “Your soul.”
Words spoken by
the ParaTek app: designate, Bill, waves, belive, Joshua, who, both, second,
your soul, said, afraid, bible, Samuel and nine.
Conclusions: If
I thought the first bridge was a bit safer for our group to cross, I would have
gone to go on to the second bridge as that was apparently where the couple
crashed over the bridge and where most of the activity was reported.
The first bridge was overgrown with foliage and difficult to see where to
step. Perhaps a follow-up might be in order here.
The word “belive” came up here and some other
places. The meaning of that word is to remain, stay or abide. In parts of
Scotland, it is used as an adverb that means soon. So the use of that word in
this environment is interesting as it could be interpreted as “something” or
“someone” remaining or staying at this location.
We did have three names come through the ParaTek; Bill, Joshua and Samuel. It would be interesting to see if any of those names might have died at this location. The stories told of this area sound more like urban legend than true stories but even urban legends begin somewhere with someone relating a narrative, incredible as this one may be and urban legends usually get sensationalized throughout the years so that what is eventually being related bears no resemblance to the original story.
