Redford Cemetery Investigation

A cemetery in the middle of the woods and off the beaten path. There is history of a black family and man buried out in the woods who wasn’t offered the courtesy of being buried within the cemetery boundaries. Jay Wheeler’s grave who was born October 20, 1865 (?) and died at the age of 48.

Location: GPS 38°04’613”, 88°12’247” located in Jasper County, Wade Township near the town of Newton, Illinois 62448.

Hauntings: Strange shadow figures have been seen flitting about at the edge of the cemetery and near the tree line. Others have seen orbs of light moving around the cemetery around dusk.

The Ghost Research Society investigated Redford Cemetery on August 3, 2018 and the team members included: Jim Piscopo, Mike Rosario and Dale Kaczmarek, with help from Jason Snider, Jason Dickerson, Riley Miller and Courtney Breanne from the Crawford County Illinois Ghost Hunters Society

Equipment setup: A couple of Nightshot cameras were set up as we arrived there as just about sundown. Digital recorders, cameras and camcorders were used as well as the Phasma Box.

Experiments performed: A Phasma Box session was performed here near the back of the cemetery where a lot of the strange visual events have been reported in the past.

Personal experiences:

Dale Kaczmarek: I did not experience anything out of the ordinary while there but there was a creep factor and strange feeling at the cemetery. We did seem to get responses or activity via the Phasma Box each time we invoked the name of Mr. Wheeler. Perhaps his ghost was around and active that night?

Evidence collected:

He’s over there redford.MPG – while conducting a Phasma Box session, a question was asked, “Mr. Wheeler are you out here?” The device responded with, “He’s over there.”

Hey you two redford.MPG – while conducting a Phasma Box session, the device blurted out, “Hey, you two.”

I can see him redford.MPG – while conducting a Phasma Box session, a question was asked, “Mr. Wheeler, are you here?” The device responded with, “I can see him.”

Please stop redford.MPG – while conducting a Phasma Box session, the device said, “Please stop.”

Stick breaking redford.MPG – while conducting an EVP session and calling out Mr. Wheeler again the sound of a stick breaking nearby was heard and recorded.

Strange light redford.MPG – Piscopo’s static IR camcorder picks up a strange white light that travels from right to left and then left to right.

Conclusions: This was a creepy cemetery out in the middle of nowhere. It is located along a very rural road that didn’t have a lot of traffic so our EVP sessions were not contaminated by the sounds of passing cars.

Digital recorders and Nightshot cameras did pick up the sound of mosquito population that, at first, sounded like something else. This is a very good location to conduct a paranormal investigation due to the stillness of the area and I would not mind coming back here again in the future to try some more experiments.
