According to the Bremen police officer legend says that a group of teenagers had a car accident on the bridge, however, according to the police officer; this story was not likely to be true.
The Bridge is located along a dirt road in Amish country. People have noted hoof
prints and other odd markings caused by Amish horse carriages moving along those
roads. The bridge passes over a little creek near Lake of the Woods.
There is a great deal of graffiti on the bridge unfortunately.
Address: Off
Hwy 331 on 5th Street going west, Bremen, IN 46506
GPS: 41°24’20”N, 86°10’53”W
Haunting: Disembodied screaming sounds
are said to manifests here due to the car accident said to have occurred at the
bridge. Also, reports of a tall shadowy apparition that will "throw things
at you" have been reported.
Legend
has it that driving to the center of the bridge, parking and turning your car
off and exiting the vehicle will summon the troll. This beast is said to be 7-8
feet tall and have an aggressive temperament, opting to chase trespassers or
throw things at your car.
The Ghost Research Society visited Troll Bridge on May 23, 2022 and the team members included: Charles Williams, Paul Adams and Dale Kaczmarek.
Equipment setup: Hand-held equipment such as
digital recorders and cameras, camcorders and a Samsung Galaxy S21 Slim Ultra to
run the ParaTek app and take pictures.
Experiments performed: One single ParaTek app EVP
session was conducted on the bridge proper.
Personal experiences:
Charles
Williams: Dale
and Paul did a tiny investigation here, didn’t think we were doing one because
this was an urban legend. Dale was intrigued by the responses here.
Dale Kaczmarek:
It was a
beautiful but windy day out here which lead to some wind contamination. The
first word that came out of the ParaTek app was seven and Paul confirmed that
there were seven pillars holding up the bridge.
The next word “throw” was interesting as the urban
legend states that the troll-like creature that is said to inhabit the bridge
often throws things on people who stop on the bridge.
A strange word “kop” came through and when it was
looked up on Google, the definition was, “(South African English) (especially
in place names) a hill (usually the Kop) (British English) (especially in the
past) an area of steps at a football (soccer) team’s ground where that
team’s supporters stand to watch the game, especially in Liverpool Football
Club. Also to gape or stare.
Evidence
collected: Nothing,
just some random words.
Words or
phrases spoken by the ParaTek app: seven, throw, sword, kop, face, reap, Scott, no, quick,
mental, numbers, vanguard & length.
Conclusions: Some
interesting and obscure words came through the ParaTek app but nothing in
response to any direct questions asked. This story is most likely an urban
legend or folklore but all such stories usually commence from some oral
narrative or retelling of an old wife’s tale. While some factors of the
initial story may have been true at one time, the simple retelling and
embellishment over the years often clouds the original tale so much as to often
make it unrecognizable in the present.
This may be the case here or there may be some purposeful embellishment just to make the area appear to be much spookier than it truly is.
